Bob has spent his life climbing, skiing and sailing in wild places, both as an enthusiast amateur and a successful professional, having qualified as an international Mountain Guide.

He is a published author and a consultant on adventure activities. He lives in the Scottish Highlands within sight of the magnificent Caringorm mountains.

He was educated at Cambridge University and expected to work as a scientist, but a chance encounter with rock-climbing during his final years at school eventually led to a career in mountaineering and adventure education.

Bob has worked across the field of outdoor education as an instructor at Brathay Hall and Glenmore Lodge and Principal at Outward Bound Eskdale. He is Director of Adventure Activity Associates and a former Director of the European Avalanche School.
